Bill & Carol have been married since July of 1954. Bill graduated from New Hanover High School in Wilmington, NC, in 1954, spent two years with the 82nd Airborne in Fayetteville, NC, attended Wilmington College (now UNC Wilmington) for one year and graduated from North Carolina State University with a BS in Engineering in 1959. After graduation he spent 33 years with the General Electric Company. Carol was a housewife who raised two children, but was a big asset to Bill in his GE career.

With GE they lived in Pittsfield, MA, Cleveland, OH, Philadelphia, PA, Columbia, SC, Hendersonville, NC and their last eight years in Avon, CT, where Bill was with GE Electrical Distribution and Control (now GE Industrial) one of GE's twelve business units at the time.

While living in Connecticutt, they spent many weekends at the Beekman Towers at 49th Street and 1st Avenue. Carol also went into the city the first Wednesday of each month with a women's group, taking in plays and shopping. She was very influential with Bill's business colleagues from all over the world taking several into New York shopping.

Bill retired in 1992, and they returned to their native North Carolina, where they had homes near the coast and in the mountain foothills. They also spent six months a year in Florida for several years. They later settled in one residence in the town of Laurel Park, just outside Hendersonville, NC, and spend a month each year in Marco Island, Florida. In May 2016 Bill and Carol moved into The Carolina Village Retirement Community, the only continuing care retirement community in Hendersonville, NC.
