50th Reunion
The 1954 class of New Bern High School held reunions for the periods specified above. The class of 1954 was the last class to graduate from the Moses Griffin Building where New Bern students had attended high school from 1904 to 1954. For this class's 50th reunion, it invited all previous classes that attended school there, to attend Friday night's events at the New Bern Riverfront Convention Center.
Sixty-six classmates of the 1954 class attended. Other attendees included members from every class from 1940-1957, the last class to attend there, plus graduates from the classes of 1937, 1930 and Helen Cannon Newborn from the class of 1927. Twenty two NBHS graduates from later classes also attended.
Special Guest: Mr Donald Smith
This years event honored Mr Don Smith age 85, who taught music at New Bern High School for many many years. Here he is below left back then, next with Billy Benners at the reunion and the members of his choir from a variety of his years singing at the reunion on the right.
