Cutchin Ancestry

The first Mr Cutchin of record was born and died in Ireland. There is no record of his wife, but he had two known sons, Thomas Cutchin and Samuel Thomas Cutchin, both born in Scotland in the early to mid 1600's, and both of whom died in the United States. Thomas died in Nansemond, VA, and Samuel Thomas in Isle of Wight County, VA.
His son Samuel Thomas Cutchin (born before 1660) married Sarah Marshall (born date unknown in Isle of Wight County, VA), and together they had three children, Samuel Thomas Cytchin II (born Abt 1683), Homphrey Cutchin (born 1694) and Joseph Cutchin (birth date unknown) all in Isle of Wight County VA.
Their son Samuel Thomas Cutchin II (b Abt 1683) married Mary Williams (birth date unknown) and together they had two children, Samuel Thomas Cutchin III (b Abt 1720) and Mary Cutchin (b 8/30/1754), bith in Isle of Wight County, VA.
Their son Samuel Thomas Cutchin III (b Abt 1720) married Sarah Gibbs (birth date unknown) and together they had eight children, Joshua (b Abt 1743), Thomas Samuel (b Abt 1745), Mary (b Abt 1754), Josiah (b Abt 1755), Easter (b Abt 1755), Jeremiah Nathaniel (b Unk), Joseph (b Unk) and Samuel Thomas IV (b Unk), all in Isle of Wight County, VA.
Their son Thomas Samuel Cutchin (b Abt 1745) married Mary Moore (b date Unk in Isle of Wight County, VA) in about 1766 and together they had eight children, Samuel, Thomas Samuel II, Lydia, Mary, Easter and three others names unknown.
Their son Thomas Samuel Cutchin II (b Abt 1770) married Pherebe Howell (b 1759) and together they had ten children, Tolaitha (b 1797), Josiah (b 7/28/1799), Eli (b Abt 1802), Norfleet (b 1805), Ruth (b 1809), Tabitha (b 1810), Thomas Howell (b 9/17/1812), Lois (b bet 1810-1815), Martha (b Unk) and Lemmon (b Unk).
Their son Josiah Cutchin (b 7/28/1799) married Sally Best (b 12/18/1807), and together they had twelve children, Mary Caroline (b 11/2/1826), Mary Frances Pherebe (b 12/28/1827), Margaret Ann Sylvester (b 7/10/1829), William Thomas (b 6/28/1831), Josiah R (2/18/1833), Jane Eliza (b 1/27/1835), Joseph Henry (b 4/7/1837), Sally Ann (b 3/22/1839), James MacGilbra (b 5/30/1841), John Almarine (b 1/22/1843), Cornelius S (b 1/14/1845) and Arthur Wilson, (b 3/15/1846).
Their son William Thomas Cutchin (b 6/28/1831 in Rdgecomb County, NC) married Mary Ann Barfield (b Unk) and together they had five children, Walter Thaddeus (b 10/31/1855), Clifford (b Unk), John Richard (b 3/15/1860), Gustavus Floyd (b Unk) and Nora Lee (b Unk). William Thomas, the father, enlisted with the Seventh Confederate Cavalry, C-F in 1862 and died in a Yankee prison in Elmira, NY.
Their son Walter Thaddeus Cutchin married (1) Sara Elizabeth Lentz in Norwood, Anson County, NC, December 21, 1881, the daughter of John Eli and Elizabeth Kirk Lentz and together they had 11 children.
